Innermost
To describe a thing is a brazen act
To set upon it its inference
As well as its meaning
Its very nature
To imbue a thing with those characteristics
Of which we hope it might also speak is
A serious undertaking
And yet beautiful and filled with hope
It is in truth an act of yearning and desire
Of longing and birth
It is an act of intimacy for it reveals
The very soul
The sight, the imagination, the vulnerability
And yes, the intellect
It hints too at a sanity if understood
And an artistry if met with a deep knowing
To a mystery you didn’t realize you were seeking to solve
Yes, brave are the scribes
How they dare
And in so doing reveal their innermost
And in that moment
Sometimes
They bring us home
